Music Production: BAHAMUT

About my music

BAHAMUT is my personal music production project where I explore some of my favorite genres of music. I have always held a strong passion when it comes to sound; not only in games, but in everyday life. Audio has a tremendous impact on one’s experience of whatever media it is accompanying, amplifying emotion and meaning through sound.

I draw my inspiration from video game soundtracks and some of my favorite electronic music artists to create unique and fun tracks that explore different auditory themes, mainly in the realm of ethereal, jungle-style breakbeat.

My approach to music production combines technical sound design skills with creative composition techniques. Each track is a journey through carefully crafted sonic environments, designed to evoke specific moods and emotions.

Featured Tracks

angel echoes

"angel echoes" is one of my more recent works, using a variety of different video game sound effects to achieve an ethereal yet upbeat and stirring melody.

The name of the tracks comes from the concept of distant voices and memories, which is prominently featured in one of the soundbites utilized in this track. The drumline is layered with multiple breaks and effects reminiscent of break music, while the pads and the angelic choir-like sound create a dreamy, floaty soundscape.

half-time

"half-time" is one of my earlier tracks, made in collaboration with one of my close friends. We took Half-Life's healing station sound effect and constructed a jungle beat around it.

This composition is fun, upbeat, with a distinct and bouncy rhythm, and was my initial foray into combining sound effects from video games with genres of music I am interested in exploring.

Creative Process

My music production process typically begins with a concept or theme I want to explore, or even simply from a sample that I think would be fun to work with. I start by laying down drumlines, breaks and foundational sounds that establish the overall tone of the track. From there, I iterate further on rhythmic elements and melodic motifs, exploring different possibilities until I get to exactly what I want.

Currently, I am particularly interested in the intersection of traditional composition techniques and modern sound design. Many of my tracks incorporate samples from different kinds of media, often distorted or changed to fit the tone of whatever I'm making. Alongside one of my friends, I am looking to begin incorporating guitar riffs with breakbeat drumlines.

BAHAMUT is an avenue for me to experiment with techniques and sounds that I can later apply to my game audio work, creating ties between my personal creative expression and professional sound design.
